A practical checklist for evaluating a Telegram source, a specific post, and the claim you intend to use.

Direct answer. Telegram verification has three distinct layers: establish what you can about the channel, preserve and inspect the specific post, then corroborate the real-world claim. Passing one layer does not automatically pass the others.

Record naming history, stated ownership, linked identities, publication pattern, and known impersonators.

Preserve its link, timestamp, media, caption, surrounding messages, forwards, edits, and visible attribution.

Seek independent primary material, geolocation or chronology evidence, and credible reporting outside the channel.

Answer each item explicitly; “unknown” is a valid result.

IdentityWho appears to operate the channel, and what evidence supports that attribution?
IntegrityIs the post original, forwarded, edited, cropped, translated, or missing context?
ChronologyDoes its timestamp fit independently observed events and earlier publication?
CorroborationWhich independent sources support or contradict the underlying claim?
Residual riskWhat remains unknown, and how would error affect the investigation?
